My father sits on the bench, smiling when he sees me. He hops up and comes toward me with a smile on his stupid fucking face. “My girl killed it.”

Before he can reach me, Dalton is in front of me. “That’s close enough, bloke.”

“You can’t keep me from my daughter,” he says, disgruntled.

“Oh yes we can.” Marcus joins Dalton.

Dad looks at me with that same mean look on his face—the one he used to wear right before I’d get a smack in the face. “Don’t forget how you got here, girl.” He points at me with his thick meaty finger.

Gio walks in, I didn’t even know that he’d walked out, and he’s followed by security. They grab my dad, who blusters at them as they begin to drag him out of the locker room. I hang my head, embarrassed and pissed off.

I stalk over to my locker and start ripping the wraps on my hands off with my teeth. I stop, flopping down on the bench. I rest my elbows on my knees and bow my head.

Dalton sits next to me. “Don’t,” he growls and I look at him. “Do not let that man take the joy you should be feeling right now away from you. Go and take a shower, we’ll head back to the suite and order some food and celebrate.”

I nod and then smile. “That sounds really great.”

It takes us an hour before Dalton leads me back to our suite. Now that the fight is over, he gives Marcus and Cobi the night off, so we’re alone. I bounce around the living room, watching a replay of the fight while he orders our food.

I know I shouldn’t, but I critique myself. Even though I won, I always think of ways I could’ve done better. One thing I notice as I watch the fight that as soon as I win, Dalton is the first person in the octagon and I’m in his arms.

The smile on his face is huge and he’s never been more beautiful.

I turn to Dalton, who is hanging up the phone. My heart beats rapidly in my chest and he stands up—fuck, he’s tall.

“They said it’ll be a half hour but they’ll put a rush on it.” He sets the phone down and comes toward me.

I quickly make a decision and that’s to pounce—which is me running to him and jumping into his arms. I cling to him like a spider monkey and grab his face, slamming my lips down on his. At first, he doesn’t move and I think I’ve made a mistake, but suddenly his fingers are in my hair and he takes control of the kiss.

Every bit of pent-up energy and sexual tension explodes between the two of us. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened, or at least that’s what I hoped.

I feel him moving and then us going down. My back hits the chaise lounge, and he pulls back, looking me up and down. “You are exquisite.
